Akinyemi Oyelere

Oh, I woke up this morning
With tears rolling down my eyes
When I saw the blood of citizens
Flowing through the street of death
I couldn’t hold my tears and fear

The dogs raised for protection
Turned voracious wild animals
Killing his parts and beautiful future
Yes! Tearing innocent souls of the land
Slaughtering young souls like fowls.

Oh, I sat on the hill of bleeding
Alas! I saw Nigerian flag soaked
With the blood of heros and heroines
Bullets smile kissing flesh to death
Lamentation fills mug of every home.

The river of peaceful protests
Flows through street of Nigeria
For the flaming fire of pain to quench
Sponsored ghosts adds fuel to the fire
The atmosphere of feeling turned killing

Ancient mountains stands in sorrow
Watching the act and art of wicked men
That sat on the peak throne of no pity
Ruling with the giant staff of placid guilty
O God, look down and heal Nigeria by your mercy.
