“Press Council has taught me the way of multitasking and groomed me as a successful resource manager, which has not affected my academic performance, as I can be, I can be among the top students in my department combined with the extracurricular activities. Then you can be successful in every responsibility placed on you.” Those were the words 2018/2019 Press Council chairman, Comrade Malik Ademola, while giving his opening speech at the Press Dinner/Investiture of the new executive/editorial board on Friday 6th of December, 2019 at the Press Council’s hall.
This event was graced by press council’s alumni, press observers and press council members. And was colourful in vibrant blue and white in a round table dinner. And was fill with series of advises from respectable alumni.
The guest speaker, and 2005 Press Chairman, Comrade Adeyemi, gave some words to the would-be appointees of the council, “This is an independent association situated in the institution to disseminate adequate and verified information that concerns the entirety of the students on campus and institution at large.” He further envisaged that the success of every administration lies in the collective support and unity of the organization. “It’s a very tedious task but you need to be united with a great sense of co-operation.” He resolved.

In his own speech, Comrade Otunba Sanni (Vice Chairman of the board 2017/2018) said, “Press Council TPI is my Alma Mata which has helped me tremendously in the stage I’ve attained today. This is a call to service hence, I urge the new executives to be good ambassadors of the editorial organization.” He concluded.
Thereafter, the 2018 executives were dissolved by Comrade Bolawa Pelumi (2017/2018 Chairman) and the new executives were announced.
The names of the 2019/2020 executives are listed below:
- Gbolagade Ayobami Sunday – Chairman
- Bolajoko Victor Temitayo – Vice Chairman
- Ogundare Dorcas – General Secretary
- Babatunde Adebayo A. A. – Editor-in-Chief
- Yussuf Olaide Nafisat – Financial Secretary
- Alex Victor – Deputy Editor-in-Chief.
- Akinyemi Jelili Samson – Public Relation Officer (P.R.O)
- Wahab Halimat – Welfare Secretary
- Ogunwale Mathew – Assistant General Secretary (AGS)
- George Michael – Protocol Officer
- Komolafe Inioluwa – Production Manager
In his acceptance speech, Comrade Gbolagade Ayobami, the newly appointed chairman reiterated that everyone should “Aspire to acquire your determined desire” hence, appreciation was given to everyone that has contributed to the success of the transition process.
In conclusion, Comrade Adesola Ikulajulo a veteran, journalist, and advocate for campus journalism awarded certificate to the immediate past executives.
The program was then concluded amidst funfair, with all members congratulating and wishing the new appointees earnest luck.
