The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has certified great confidence towards the system of education run by the Polytechnic Ibadan, described the system as one of the major contributors to the economic and technological advancement in the country.
The highly recognized Monarch, an alumnus of The Polytechnic Ibadan, stated this on Friday 10th September 2021 while receiving the management team of The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), who paid a courtesy visit to his palace.
Oba Ogunwusi, who accepted a program designed by the authorities of the institution to celebrate him on a date to be agreed upon, expressed happiness and willingness to return to the institution that taught him that hard work is the panacea to poverty (Ise ni Oogun Ise)
Earlier, the Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Professor Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, observed that the institution’s story would not be completed without the help of the royal father.
He said, The Polytechnic that produced the Ooni of Ife and other prominent Nigerians also produced him as he cut his teeth at the mechanical engineering department of the institution where he bagged a National Diploma before proceeding to the University for further academic laurels.
Adebiyi continued as he noted that the homecoming program planned to celebrate the Monarch would also encourage the institution’s current students to work hard and excel as the world is at their feet.
The chairman of the governing council of TPI, Professor Kunle Akinyemi, who was unavoidably absent, was represented by Ayaba (Barrister) Moji Adeyemi (the wife of His Imperial Majesty, the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi), who is also a member. Also present were Mrs. Modupe Theresa Fawale (Registrar), Mr. Olawole Adebayo Ojetola (Bursar), Dr. Ismaeel Oyefemi Oyetunji (Dean, Faculty of Financial Management Studies and Chairman Committee of Deans), Dr. Femi Ipadeola (Former Dean, Faculty of Business and Communication Studies) and Mr. Soladoye Adewole (Public Relations Officer).
