In a bid to celebrate World Donor Day on June 14 of every year, and as part of contribution towards savings life and improving healthy living, Junior Chamber International, The polytechnic, Ibadan in collaboration with National Blood Transfusion Service organised blood donation program tagged “Give blood and Save Life” on 23th August, 2019 at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Speaking with PRESS COUNCIL, Junior Chamber International, The Polytechnic, Ibadan Chapter President, Ogunleye Olamitayo Tifeoluwa said ” One of the goals of this project is to save life in a situation whereby there’s emergency health issues and victims have difficulty in finding blood to survive. It’s also an avenue for Students on campus to be hero or heroin by donating blood.”
She further expressed her satisfaction over the large turnout of members and students as she ended by saying “Service to Humanity is best work of life.”
While addressing the PRESS COUNCIL correspondence, Team lead of the blood donation project from National blood transfusion agency, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Tosin emphasised that the aim of the agency is to source for blood donors from voluntary unpaid donors to save victims’ life in which students are not exception of this. She also assured donor of safe donation as the agency are equipped with necessary sterilized equipments to make the process an easy one for donors.
She also added that Blood donation program is also a platform for people to seek counseling from health consultant for proper consultations on different health challenges.
In a short briefing with the PRESS COUNCIL, One of the blood donors Onowapo Serah said ” I’m okay after donating blood and I’m glad to be part of the program of saving someone’s life.” “The organiser of this project are caring and of good hospitality,” She added.
Also in another donor’s view, Adekunle Joshua said “Even though I was scared before donating my blood but after the process I’m happy and satisfied with such program Organised by Student organization on campus.”
