The Student Union Government (SUG) of The Polytechnic Ibadan has expressed concerns over the recent memorandum released by the school management, which prohibits students from bringing their vehicles and power bikes on campus. The SUG memo stated that the directive would have negative effects on the entire student populace, as shuttle buses, tricycles, and motorcycles are not enough to serve the students’ transportation needs.
The ban on students’ vehicles and power bikes on campus has raised concerns among the student union government, who believe that it would have negative effects on the entire student populace.
According to the memo, the long queues at Apete, Sango, and South Campus pick-up points are already causing inconvenience for students who have to wait for hours before getting a ride. The ban on students’ vehicles and power bikes would only exacerbate the situation, leading to more frustration and delays.
The SUG is calling on the school management to reconsider its decision and find alternative solutions that would not inconvenience students.
The Student Union through the memo further stressed that the prohibition will only bring more stress to students and make movements within the campus tough. They as well appeal to the populace of students on campus to keep calm and stay patient for them to find a lasting solution with the Students’ Affairs and Management on the trivial issue.
