The Zone D of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), under the coordination of Comrade Alao John, has applauded the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, at her first world press conference.

The Press Conference, which took place at the Forestry College, Ibadan, was the first of it’s kind in the zone.

In his words, Comrade Alao John commended the effort of the President, in reckoning with the students, by signing the students’ loan bill.

“We commend the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for swiftly identifying with Nigerian students within his first days in office by signing into law, the Students Loans Scheme.”

“We believe that this scheme will help alleviate the sufferings of the average Nigerian student” – he added.

However, he gave the President a chip of advice about the newly signed bill.

“We implore the President to implement the UNESCO recommendation of at least 26% of the budget set aside for education which we all agree is the bedrock for prosperity.” – he opined.

He also enjoined the President, to consider experience in appointing for the students’ constituency.

“While we realize that it is the sole right of the Presidentto appoint whosoever he wants in his administration, the Zone will also use this opportunity to ask the President to appoint for the students’ community, someone who has the experience and preferably someone who has served the organization meritoriously in the past.

Giving reason for his advice, Comrade John, opined that it will greatly give the president insight into the affairs of the organization.
