A student of The Polytechnic, Ibadan was reported to have defrauded fellow students of a huge amount of money reported to be around millions of Naira. The student who claims to be operating a mobile cyber cafe, collected money from some of his classmates with the obligation to pay their school fees but failed to pay all the necessary fees but issued faƙe receipts to all of them.

The suspect, who was a class rep of an HND 2 class; while speaking with a Press Council correspondent, said he diverted the money into crypto currency trading as there was a portal issue at that time that hindered him from paying the money. There was a dip in the value of crypto currencies at that time so he lost both the expected profit and the capital. However, he has not stopped collecting money from the victims and has defrauded some of them for over 2semesters but keeps issuing fake receipts.

The Rector of the institution has interfered in the matter and He has been detained in the Security department of the institution and will be transfered to the ICPC office, according to a report.
