“I will like to welcome some visitors to this plenary session, we have the Students’ Union Legislative Arm of The Polytechnic, Ibadan in our midst, you’re honorably welcome to the Oyo State House Plenary and we wish you success in your academic pursuit”, that was the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin while giving his remark to the students during their visit to the legislative House on 10th November, 2020.
The visit which is aimed to evidently observe how a plenary session is organized, understand the code of conduct and be more learned on the modus operandi within the legislative arm.
While speaking, the Senate President of the institution’s Students’ Representative Council, Senator Ogunlade Johnson. O, “the visitation is to learn the code of conduct, how to behave well in the society so that it will equip us in becoming great leader in the future. We have learnt a lot from today’s plenary especially a plenary devoid of any form of chaos and violence. Therefore, my advice to the other subset legislative arm of the institution and students at large is to unite, love one another to achieve positive result.”
In his remark, Senator Damilola from Accountancy department appreciated the untiring efforts of the Institution’s House towards the visitation of the plenary, “my presence here has opportune me to understand the nitty gritty of how things are done in the house and I believe changes will effect in our mode of discharging our duties. My advice to the general students is that whatsoever they do, they should remain focused.”
While admonishing the SRC, the Deputy Chief Whip of the house, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi advised them on how to be a better agent of developmental change in the society. “To move this State and Nation forward, the youth must positively equip themselves academically, morally, diligently, psychologically, physically and politically. Towards every plan you have, take a step at the right time in the right place and the right direction.”
