The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, is yet to make a U-turn on hostel payment for students ahead of examination.

Aggrieved students of the institution are left disorganized and disturbed few days to exam, as the management is yet to put their request into consideration.

The management has made hostel payment compulsory for all students, by, making it impossible for students to pay school fees or any fee without first making the hostel fee payment.

Students, however, expressed their concerned in an interview with Press Council correspondent.

“I am literally depressed and I’m finding it hard to concentrate on my studies because anytime I try to focus in class or read my books, I feel emotionally worn-out because of all these money poly is requesting from me. I’m still striving to gather my school fees, where do I turn to get hostel fee, even when I’ve already secured an apartment outside the school?” Lawal Bisoye, a HND student lamented.

“They could’ve made the hostel available before resumption and cleared us on time before we had no choice than to rent apartment outside. Now how do I tell my parents that I want to pay for another accomodation that I won’t live in?” Sunday Adebiyi, an ND student questioned.

“I believe hostel shouldn’t be mandatory. Or better still, the school can just tell us to pay #1,000 for hostel refusal, like we normally do, I think that will be better than imposing this huge amount on us to pay for what we won’t use.” Odekule Mariam advised.

Students are however, imploring the management to have mercy on them before the commencement of exam. Although, the time table for the examination is yet to be released, but it has been confirmed that examination will commence on 10th January, 2022.
