The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has orientated her new students on all they need to know about the institution and their rules and regulations.
In his welcome address, the Rector of the institution, Professor Kazeem Adebiyi, congratulated the intending polyte and encouraged them to be of good conduct. He also shared words of admonishment before declaring the program open.
“You have a upper hand here because you’re being taught both theory and practical. And very soon, we shall gather again to celebrate you.”
The Registrar of the institution, Mrs F.O. Fawale, also emphasized on the need to maintain good conducts and behavior throughout their academic days to avoid penalty of any kind.
She also enjoined the intending students to put their academic assignment first and priority.
In his lecture, the acting chairman for C.I.D.M., Mr Kehinde Moradeyo, took the students on how their CGPA will be calculated, and also explained the dangers ahead not paying fees at the right time.
“Your course form guarantees your name on the scoresheet, on which your results will be processed, but you must pay all fees before you will be able to access your course form. Failure to pay fees on time will deny you access to your course form and your results” he warned
“You must learn to compute your results by yourself, so that even before the final CGPA is released, you already know your fate” he advised.
Dr Adesiyan, the Chairman Examination Monitoring Committee, also lectured the students on penalties attached to every form of examination malpractices.
In their different lectures, the Ag. Chief Security Officer, Mrs Fawibe, and the Deputy registrars, Dr Biodun and Mrs Ayoade, enjoined the students to put all they’ve heard into use and wished them success in their endeavors.
In his remark, the Student Union President, Com. Adedeji Abdulazeez, welcomed the students into the institution and implore them to be bold to speak up, regardless of what they face.
“No cafe operator should charge you more than ₦10 for photocopy. Pure waters are also meant to be sold for ₦10 per sachet and nothing more. Also, kindly make use of the school shuttles, they’re now ₦30 within the campus. If anybody defies these order, kindly feel free to report to the SUG building or Maintenance”.
The event, which took place at 1,000 capacity, had in attendance, the Rector of the institution, Prof Kazeem Adebiyi; Registrar, Mrs F.O. Fawale; Chief Libarian, represented by Mr Kayode, Director of Works and Services, Mr Stephen; Dean Student Affairs, Mr Anjola, amongst other senior staff of the institution, Deans of Faculties, and representative of student leaders.
