September 21st, 2023, the Day 6 of the NBTE/Nigeria Polytechnics Senior Staff Games Association (NIPOSSGA) at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, was filled with high-stakes football quarter-finals and intense table tennis doubles competitions. The day showcased exceptional talents and determination as teams battled for supremacy on the pitch and at the table.

Football Quarter Finals:

In the football quarter-finals, Federal Polytechnic, Offa being the defending champions displayed their prowess with a convincing 2-0 victory over Federal Polytechnic, Oko. Meanwhile, the match between Federal Polytechnic, Ede and Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro ended in a goalless draw, leading to a thrilling penalty shootout. Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro emerged victorious, winning 6-5 on penalties, securing a place in the semi-finals.

A similar penalty shootout scenario unfolded in the match between Federal Polytechnic, Auchi and Abia State Polytechnic, after both teams drew 0-0. Abia Polytechnic came out on top, winning 5-4 in the shootout. Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birnin-Kebbi, secured a 2-0 victory over The Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, in another thrilling quarter-final match.

Table Tennis Doubles:

The host institution, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, made a strong showing in the table tennis doubles competitions. In the men’s double final, they secured a second-place finish, showcasing great skills and determination. However, it was in the women’s double event that The Polytechnic, Ibadan, emerged victorious, claiming the first position amid cheers from their supporters.

Day 6 of the NIPOSSGA Games was marked by heart-pounding moments on the football field and impressive performances in table tennis. As the tournament progresses, the competition gets more intense, with each team giving their all to represent their institution with pride.
