In captivating displays of sportsmanship, the recent football matches at the NBTE/Nigeria Polytechnics Senior Staff Games Association (NIPOSSGA) games showcased the prowess of participating institutions. The matchups featured Federal Polytechnic Offa facing off against Federal Polytechnic Ilaro and Federal Polytechnic Abia squaring off against Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi.
The first football duel of the day saw Federal Polytechnic Offa clashing with Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in a highly anticipated showdown. The game got off to an electrifying start as Offa secured an early 1-0 lead during the first half. With an impressive display of teamwork and strategy, Offa managed to maintain their lead, thereafter ultimately securing victory.
An interview with the jubilant coach of Federal Polytechnic Offa revealed the depth of their preparation and dedication. “It has always been a victory for us, and we worked hard for it, so we deserved it,” said the coach. He extended heartfelt thanks to the Rector of their school for providing them with the opportunity to compete at this prestigious event.
In the second football encounter, Abia State Polytechnic clashed with Umaru Waziri Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi in a closely contested match. In a nail-biting competition, Abia State Polytechnic emerged victorious with a final score of 1-0. This qualifies them to head to the finals with Federal Polytechnic, Offa.
However, the final match and the closing ceremony of the NBTE/NIPOSSGA Games competition would be coming up tomorrow Saturday 23rd of September, 2023.
