The Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers NIMechE (A Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers) Ibadan Chapter held their 3rd Distinguished Academic Lecture and 5th Graduate Induction Ceremony of The Polytechnic, Ibadan 2018/2019 Mechanical Engineering Grandaunds. The event which was held on 10th December, 2020 at the Conference center of the institution had in attendance, the Rector of the institution ENGR. Prof. K.A ADEBIYI MNSE, MNIMechE, Deputy Rector, Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Head of Department (Mechanical Engineering) and other dignitaries from the NIMechE.
The guest speaker, the Rector spoke about the title; “Taking Safety Beyond Accident Prevention”. Also, while delivering his speech, the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, DR. ENGR. I. O. Oladejo (MNSE, MNIEEE) admonished the grandaunds being worthy and bold to take challenge in any floor of the Nigerian Society of Mechanical Engineers, he went on further to advise the students to continue to work on the goal of becoming a more agile and demutualized Engineers, the importance of their role cannot be overemphasized.
More so, the Heads of both the NSE and MNIMechE both at the National and Local level were also acknowledged, thus ENGR. Ago Oyedele, who is the Chairman of Ibadan Chapter (NIMechE) analyzed the importance of the gathering and the activities of the organization.
Moreover, out of total of 36 students who were inducted, gifts were presented to the first three 2018/2019 Mechanical Engineering students, TPI. Miss Salish Abisoye Saidat, who was the overall Best, Mr. Fadipe Abiola Bashir second and third best Mr. Mudasiru Oyokunle Yusuf.
Finally, The Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering, ENGR. D.B Oke MNSE, MNIMechE gave his word of advice and closing remarks.
