The Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has ordered the immediate evacuation of students from Faculties of Engineering, Science and Environmental Studies from the Halls of Residence on or before 12 Noon of Saturday, 16th November, 2019.
The directive which was contained in a memo sent across to the necessary offices instructed the students from the above Faculties to proceed on their second semester break with immediate effect.
As contained in the memo, any students found violating this directive would be sanctioned appropriately.
However, the resumption date for the next academic session (2019/2020) Shall be communicated soonest.

The management is sick. Does it change anything? They’ll come up with useless policies and expect peace. No good structure whatsoever. There hasn’t been light in school since Thursday after the most recent restoration of the one week elusion of electricity following a mass protest and they’ve done nothing about the new one, but instead face irrational things.
Let’s take a quick look at the situation. I’m not sure they did what they ought to do appropriately at first. If they did, we wouldn’t have electricity issues this almost immediately. How can you hoard money and expect the right thing to be done? Anyways, like our scholars say, politics remain politics. Our management manages everything and save the rest for their own interests. Selfish bastards!
What exactly is the management, board of directors, incumbent SUG government doing about these things? We pay so much that there is nothing to show for it. I’ve spent 5 years in the institution and I know how long it took them to repair Olori road. Unity road has been that bad for God knows how long, yet they’re sitting back, folding hands and watching like one interesting movie that has a fabulous ending. What can I say about the hall wardens? Well, you can’t remove a broom stick from a broom and expect it to sweep. There are bad heads in the system, they have eaten too deep into our roots covering our faces with many unforseen changes. It’s saddening that we’ve gotten used to these things. We are suffering!!! I have just a year left in this institution and I really hope it can be better. I really do.
I won’t be surprised if my yearnings doesn’t go beyond this platform. This is Nigeria raring bunch of idiots. The media is so useless in the school. Our voices are not heard for good. All we hear is Greatest Polytes, late registration fees has been imposed on all students. I sometimes wonder why I chose Mass Communication as my course of study. PRESSCOUNCILTPI, tell me what you’ve achieved asides news dissemination in recent years. Nothing?
I figured.
Security measures, zero! They only run helter skelter staging the entire police force at the school gates when there’s a fight. I don’t even know how they think. Do they expect cultists/infiltrators to go through the main gates undisguised or not take other abandoned routes in the school when they know you have cold feet?
To be honest, all I see is the body trying to fulfill all righteousness in the sight of the heterogeneous whole (mass). We only have a name outside, but strive to succeed in the inside. I pray outsiders soon realize this and not see this tunnel without light an alternative when Universities reject them. Awá la mo bóse n lō.

You made an incredible rant and it truly speaks the mind of the students as a whole, but some things in your writeup are unchecked. Of course, the management could have so many things we don’t like, but that’s just to tell you The Polytechnic, Ibadan is a fraction of Nigeria, and Nigeria as it is today hasn’t lived to anyone’s expectation.
Among many things that you said, let me start from the light. Light not being on campus is not The Polytechnic, Ibadan issue as the area opposite school which shares same light with them didn’t have either. Or would you say they are paying for the offence of Polyibadan also? So light on campus is a generic issue, but you could have said The Polytechnic, Ibadan not providing a suitable alternative is your concern.
Now to the aspect at which your yearning does not go beyond the platform. Well, it goes beyond the platform, but management of the institution could choose to go by your words or not, like do you think they really give a damn?
Before you descended on the SUG that what exactly have they done, I want to ask, we’re you not the one who out them there? Were you not the ones who bring in sentiment of same faculty? Haven’t we always preached of meritocracy? Electing leaders by merit rather than favour? Now you elect base on nepotism and favouritism and then you expect your agitation to go beyond this? I am sorry if this still happens next year, we have elected them again this year, but by what measure? Merit or favour? Answer that.
Now to some other offices that you talked of, like press council, what have they been doing. Well, I can’t say much about them because I don’t know about them, but what I do is I follow their works and I know some of their articles have been in the student’s interest. But do you know these rants that you made have been made before? I doubt you do. But all students on campus are unconscious, they will want to agitate on your behalf, it is still our kind that will say, did we send them?
You see the problem today isn’t the management’s fault. It’s the fault of we students. As much as we have that mindset that I only have two years to spend in this institution, and I don’t want my days to be prolonged, then we will keep having this problem over and over again.
Thank you for making this rant, but before you cast the blame, check yourself, if you have contributed to this agitation in one way or the other.
