Estate Management: The Department Where Students Tender School Fee Receipt Before Entering Class

“We have been in the class early hours of today waiting for him to give us lecture by 9am. He entered and told everybody that he told the whole class since last week that you must have Department due or school fee receipt before you can come in for lecture.” Mr. O. told PRESS COUNCIL

On Thursday, 22nd August, 2019, HND 2 students of Estate Management and Valuation fumed about the principle employed by their H.O.D., Esv. O.A. ADISA, during the Valuation class which left many of them outside the block of the lecture room, peeping through or not even receiving the lecture at all.

What PRESS COUNCIL gathered from the aggrieved students was that the H.O.D had told them the previous week that they wouldn’t be allowed to take lecture if they failed to produce their school fee receipt. Sequel to this, before the commencement of Valuation class he requested them to tender their school fee receipt before they can make attendance for the lecture.

Few weeks back, the school management reiterated their regulations on registration to the consciousness of the students of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, stating that late registration will attract a certain fee. Isn’t this extra-judicial punishment meted out on the students taken into hands of a Department? Owing that late registration attracts a fee and as well students will miss out lectures which they should have taken in the first place.

Also, examining this situation from another perspective of a matured society, everyone then can ask, does sending students out of the lecture room because of nonpayment of school fee hasn’t substituted the institution to be advanced secondary school rather than the prestigious The Polytechnic, Ibadan?

Wat a terrible situation
Dat bad of the H. O. D. Since there is already fine for late payment of school fee, I Dnt think there is need for such. Even if dat fine is not in place, the H. O. D shld leave those students alone. We all know fingers re not equal. Exam period shld be Use to judge. They may do dat during exam.
