It was with great shock when the Students’ Representative Council Arm of the National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Student (NAPES); The Polytechnic, Ibadan announced the suspension of the association’s executives; the President, Comrade Ajadi Sodiq; the Treasurer, Comrade Kolawole Muinat and the Financial Secretary; Comrade Bakare Tanwa.
The President and the Treasurer were suspended indefinitely for several unconstitutional misdeeds, mainly gross misconduct all in accordance to the NAPES constitution article 6, section B, sub-section A. And as such will serve this suspension indefinitely. While the Financial Secretary was only suspended for two weeks for sparing offenses.
As such, the General Secretary of the association, Comrade Jimoh Quadri, will be appointed as the Secretary-General of the association and will act as Sole-Administrator due to his now compound duty as acting President and acting Treasurer.
FENG Press correspondent spoke with the speaker of the SRC, Rt. Hon. Kayode Samuel O. about the suspension the house had just passed, and he proceeded to say. “My view, the house have decide”. “About 2/3 of the house were present. So how could I over rule the decision taken by the house member and the discipline committee since it is backed constitution?”
“I supported the house member and signed it. If the president can comeback with what was requested by the house. The house will reconsider thier decision immediately”. And if this is not followed, means the South we know before haven’t changed and we have no respect for the constitution used in governing the National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Students’ TPI”.
“But I believe the president respect that alot. But maybe he didn’t see it to be like it is now. We have no time, and the house member are bringing the complaints from outside to the house. I will be happy if the president respect this and take a yield asap. So as to move on with the association”.
