The Polytechnic, Ibadan has exclude herself from the industrial action embarked by ASUP. Tuesday 6th April 2021, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) began an indefinite strike over the new salary scheme, payment of salaries, promotion, payment of lecturer’s allowances owed by some state governments.
Anderson Ezeibe, National president of the ASUP made the declaration of in a press briefing in Abuja, saying members of the union have agreed to shut all Nigerian Polytechnics and Monotechnics. While insisting that strike will go on, but noted that the union will be open for dialogue with the Federal Government to resolve the issues raised.
However, according to Adewole Soladoye, the Public Relations Officer of The Polytechnic, Ibadan while speaking with Agidigbo FM,” no Academic Staff is on Strike, no Non-Academic Staff is on Strike and no Senior Staff is on Strike which is good enough. As far as we are concerned, all our lecturers are lecturing”, he added.
Therefore, students are urged to continue attend lectures as the institution continues her Academic calendar.
