The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has inaugurated its newly elected Student’s Union Executive and Student’s Representative Council for the 2024/2025 academic session. The inauguration ceremony took place at the North Campus Assembly Hall, attended by top officials, including Deputy Rector, Mrs. Olaide Salawu; Acting Registrar, Mr. Adewunmi Joseph Ogunjimi, and Deputy Registrar, Mrs. Omotomilola Olatunji, among others.

Alhaji Soladoye, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, anchored the program and introduced the dignitaries present. Acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Lasisi declared the swearing-in ceremony open, advising the student leaders to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner.

Dr. Lasisi emphasized that student unionism is a platform for articulating students’ interests, academic, and welfare matters. He assured the student leaders of the management’s support, urging them to follow school protocols and engage in constructive dialogue to resolve issues.

The President-elect, Comrade Oladipupo Olamide, expressed gratitude to God, the management, and the entire student body for electing him. He tagged his administration “Era of Ultimate Welfarism” and sought the support and cooperation of the management, stakeholders, and students.

The outgoing Student Union President, Comrade Oyekan Tobiloba, reflected on his administration’s achievements, attributing their success to the Management’s support and students’ understanding.

The event featured a colorful and receptive atmosphere, with side attractions and a remarkable performance by the Music Technology department.
