In a tightly contested E-Voting Students’ Union Executives elections, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, held today October 26, 2024, Oladipupo Olamide Daniel emerge as the SUG President-elect.
The election, which was conducted online, saw a significant turnout of accredited voters from various departments and faculties starting at exactly 11:30AM, for four hours.
Present at the Assembly Hall , North Campus of the institution, being the elections control room, were; The Deputy Rector, Mrs. Olaide Salawu, members of the Press Council, Electoral Committee, Candidates Agents and officers from various security agencies, to witness and coordinate the voting process.
During the election, the Acting Rector, Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, and the Acting Registrar, Mr Joseph Ogunjimi, visited the election control room to ensure the process was free and fair. The Four hours long electoral process had 12,898 Total accredited voters of which 4772 students participated.
The election between the candidates for the office of SUG President had Ajayi Oluwatimilehin Samuel, with 2352 votes and Oladipupo Olamide Daniel, with total number of 2866 votes, presenting him as the winner of the election.
