The Oyo State Government led by His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde has announced that State owned tertiary institutions and private institutions are permitted to reopen from the 28th of September, 2020.
The governor made this known through a press statement signed by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Bar. (Hon.) Olasunkanmi Olaleye and made available to newsmen on Tuesday 15th September, 2020
Also in this release, the state announced resumption of public, private primary and secondary schools for a new session. The date was given as September 21st.
According to the statement, “the resumption date for 2020/2021 academic Session for Public / Private Primary and Secondary Schools as announced by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology will commence on Monday, 21st September, 2020.
The statement explain and read in part;
“It becomes mandatory for all Schools, Public and Private to constitute Covid-19 Task force to be headed by Heads of Schools with Two members of Staff.
“In another development, the Governor has also approved the re-opening of State owned Tertiary institutions and Private Institutions for regular academic activities to commence from Monday 28th September, 2020.
“Academic Boards and Senate of institutions are expected to fixed their date and comply strictly with COVID-19 guidelines for the reopenings of schools.”
Press Council TPI now awaits the readiness of the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan in adhering to these directives.
This development would be appreciated by students remanded idle at their various homes for the past twenty-five weeks.
