In response to mounting concerns at The Polytechnic Ibadan today, Saturday, December 2nd, 2023, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS SOUTH-WEST ZONE D) through its Vice President, Comr. Obasanya Monday Johnson, is appealing for calm as students gear up for a protest on Monday, 4th of December, 2023.
The grievances of the students include the lack of basic social amenities, delayed students’ union elections, delayed release of results, hike in fees, and reported bullying by campus security.
NAPS SOUTH-WEST (ZONE D) acknowledges these pressing issues, vowing to address them by engaging with the school management and the Oyo state government within a week. The association emphasizes the importance of a conducive living and learning environment, and the need for a democratic platform for students representation.
Expressing committment to prompt action on the aforementioned problems, NAPS SOUTH-WEST (ZONE D) assures students that their grievances will be effectively communicated to relevant authorities. The association calls for one week of patience, aiming to initiate constructive dialogue and diplomatic solutions instead of immediate staging of protests.
NAPS further urges students to trust the process, emphasizing the strategic alternative of dialogue to foster an environment where concerns can be addressed through diplomatic channels.
