It was a day to be remembered as National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Students (NAPES), The Polytechnic, Ibadan chapter, organized an orientation program for the newly admitted National Diploma and Higher National Diploma students at the Assembly hall south campus on 20 March, 2019.
The major objective of the program was to make the students aware of the academic aspects of their course, the rules and regulations of the institution and ensuring participation in monitoring the performance and progress of the students.
The orientation program which was one of its kind witnessed as many important personalities, among which are Faculty officer for faculty of engineering, Mr. Adedoyin; Dean, Faculty of Engineering represented by Engr. Ashim M. O. from Electrical Engineering department; DPO Sango Police command; Oyo state NATE chairman Engr. Busari A.; Mr Adeniran from Civil Engineering, SUG president Com. Akadiri Bayonle and some of his executives, Press chairman, Com. Kolade Malik and his crew; Chief Security Officer of The polytechnic Ibadan ably represented by Mr Yaya; Departmental presidents; Napes stakeholders; Executives and students.
The program which started by the welcome address from the NAPES president comrade Adeleke Ibrahim, where he urged new students of the faculty to be good image of the institution, also to take their primary assignment which is there academic paramount. He also implored all new students to do their registration on time for them to be a bona fide student of the institution, and also to avoid any problem.
The Guest speaker who is the DPO sango police division, expressed the dissatisfaction over dirty environment, the blame on the student of not being conscious of their health and lackadaisical attitude toward hygiene. speaking on the topic “SECURE ENVIRONMENT IS CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY” he urged all students should be security conscious and speak out either on or off campus when there’s any oppression, they should inform the security department in the school and if the case is beyond the capacity of the security department they should report to the nearest police division.
In his address to the newly students, The SUG president com akadri bayonle welcome the fresh student to the citadel of technology innovation as he urrges them to be conscious of the new environment in other not to get into wrong hands,he also emphasize that there’s no different between the southerners and northerners that we’re all one,walking towards the same goal and acknowledge the fact that his administration focus on welfarism of the student on campus and advise them to be of good representative of the institution
Speaking at the event, The chairman Press Council, The Polytechnic, Ibadan comrade Kolade Malik Ademola spoke on the need to promote literary activities among engineering students. He urged them to learn outside the four walls of the lecture room in other for them to be extraordinary in life after school. He further expressed his dissatisfaction over poor turn out of engineering students in the just concluded essay writing contest, as he announced the three entries in the contest as they were presented with certificate of participation and award simultaneously.
The event was fun-filled as different artists were called on stage to entertain the students.
