The National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Students (NAPES), the office of the sport director organized a football match between the fresh students and the stale students on Wednesday February 27, 2019 at the South Campus Field.

Speaking with the press correspondence before the match, the NAPES Sports Director, Com. Adeoye Tobilola stated that the aim of the match is to promote unity and peace among engineering students.
After the press briefing, the match was kick-started by the ESF chairman and the match began at exactly 4:07PM. After fourteen minutes of action, there was a dazzling square play from the fresh students’ team as Kabir, an ND1 student from Mechanical Engineering converted it into a goal.

In about twenty seven minutes of the game, a skillful equalizer came in from Wale the Striker of the stale students’ team.
It was an exciting display of football from both teams as their respective spectators are full of zeal and filled with enthusiasm, motivating their respective team after which Kabir gave the fresh team a lead at thirty minutes of the game. This subsequently caused a lot of dramatic display from the fresh team fans.
Few minutes to the end of the first half, the stale team edged with the fresh team when a controversial foul in the box eighteen awarded them a penalty. The penalty kick which saw the score to a 2-2 draw was taken by Musibau, an HND 2 Mechanical Engineering students. The kick had the ball rocketing through the left arm of the goal keeper into the net.

Afterwards of the match, the Press Council correspondence raised an allegation concerning the stale students, especially those on their industrial training, alleging this office of being baised of organizing fresh and stale students’ match without the students being informed. In response to the allegation, the sport director said “We’re not being baised due to the fact that fresh and stale match should have been a welcome match from my office. This match ought to have been organized earlier, but was postponed because of the fact that some stale students were still on their industrial training. Consequence of that, they had to schedule the match for Wednesday 27th of February as imperatively known that the stale students should have been on campus since Monday 25th of February, 2019.”
Furthermore, the sport director spoke on their preparation towards the upcoming SUG Queens cup, he poured out his dissatisfaction about the female students in the faculty of engineering. He said the females are hesitant to join the FENG female team maybe for a reason best known to them, but despite that they’re fully prepared ahead of the Queens competition and also assured all faculty of engineering students that they’re going for trophy this time around.
