Junior Chamber International, The Polytechnic, Ibadan celebrated World Clean-Up Day with the “Operation Keep Poly Clean” Campaign organized on 13th Friday, 2019.
The Campaign was carried out in other to exemplify selflessness, and celebrate the World Clean-Up Day. The campaign featured a demonstration of cleanliness with the picking up of litters within the institution premises, starting from the North Campus to the South campus of the Institution.
The sensitization campaign which is always celebrated on the 21st of September is a build-up of World Cleanup Day, a global social action programme aimed at combating the global solid waste problem, including the problem of marine debris.
“The project was carried out on the school premises with the sole intention of sensitizing students on campus about the implication and the danger of littering the environment with dirt. This is just our own way of saying No to a dirty environment.” JCI, The Polytechnic, Ibadan President, Ogunleye Tifeoluwa, told PRESS COUNCIL.
“This is a good initiative on the side of JCI, a good advocacy towards sustainable and enabling environment for everyone.” Alabi Azeez, HND 2 Electrical Engineering Student told PRESS COUNCIL.
The team lead for the Sensitization campaign, Jaycee Ogundare Samuel, emphasized on the impacts the campaign has made on students in his short interview with PRESS COUNCIL. “During the course of executing this sensitization project on campus, Junior Chamber International The Polytechnic, Ibadan have been able to educate about above 200 students through interaction on the sense of cleanliness and the benefits of it.”
