The Students Union of the institution, through its Sports Director, has announced the eagerly anticipated Sports Festival slated to take place this coming semester in place of the annual SUG Football Cup.
The sports event will take place from Feb 8th-12th, 2020. It’s primary mission is to add more to the already existing unity and oneness of students from a various faculties and departments that constitute the institution.
Sporting activities for the event include; Sports sensitisation (also serves as the opening ceremony) and sports quiz which will also be a part of the opening ceremony; Others include; Athletics, Basketball, Lawn Tennis, Table tennis, Chess, Scrabble and PS4 challenge.
This competition is an Inter-Faculty challenge and the SUG Sports Director, Mr. Peter Samuel as directed all interested students to reach out to their faculty sports director through their departmental sports director to register for the event.
Also, all activities listed are for both male and female students with the exception of the quiz competition and the PS4 challenge.
Each faculties are expected to meet up with the specifications laid down by the SUG Sports committee.
Athletics = 7 male, 7 female
Basketball = 8 male, 8 female
Chess = 1 male, 1 female
Scrabble = 1 male, 1 female
Tennis = 1 male, 1 female
Table tennis = 1 male, 1 female
Sport quiz= 1 male
Ps4 challenge= 1 male.
That brings a total of 40 students per faculty.
This is an innovative competition that one would expect from such a progressive Students Union Government. This tournament would serve as a means of socialization to mend broken relationships and foster love amongst all faculties. The Polytechnic, Ibadan is gripped in the fever of the aforementioned competition as it draws near.
