The Polytechnic, Ibadan Alumni Association, popularly known as Polywood Connect, successfully hosted its 3rd annual reunion event at the institution’s Assembly Hall on December 29, 2024. The event, which commenced at exactly 12:33 pm, brought together alumni from various sets and disciplines, providing a platform for networking, reminiscing, and discussing ways to contribute to the development of their alma mater.
In his welcome address, Mr. Raheem Adebisi, Polywood Connect Re-union Chairman, expressed gratitude to alumni for their support and dedication. He encouraged them to uphold the values of excellence, innovation, and service instilled by their alma mater, The Polytechnic, Ibadan. Hon. (Engr.) Remi Oseni, who also spoke at the event, commended the collective efforts and unity of all members of The Polytechnic, Ibadan Polywood Connect associations.
The reunion highlighted the importance of alumni engagement and support in shaping the future of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. It was a testament to the strong bond among Polytechnic Ibadan alumni and their commitment to giving back to their institution. Polywood Connect’s efforts demonstrate the value of alumni connections in supporting students’ academic and welfare needs. The association’s 2025 projects aim to provide scholarships and awards to 100 best-performing students, as well as initiate a shuttle bus service to enhance transportation on campus, reducing travel time and improving student safety.
The event’s grand finale featured the presentation of awards to special guests who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of The Polytechnic, Ibadan. A honorary award was presented to Dr. Taiwo Abideen Lasisi, the Rector of the institution, recognizing his tireless efforts in promoting excellence and innovation. The Deputy Rector, Mrs. Salawu Olaide Oluwatoyin, delivered a goodwill message on behalf of the Rector, commending alumni for their support and commitment, urging them to continue being ambassadors of excellence and innovation.

Many prominent alumni were also in attendance, making the event a memorable and prestigious occasion.
As the curtains drew to a close, the Chairman of the event, Mr. Raheem Adetunji, expressed his deepest gratitude to all attendees, organizers, and sponsors for making the event a resounding success. With a final round of applause, the event came to a triumphant end, leaving behind memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
