Press Council, The Polytechnic, Ibadan hosts “Four Saturdays in Training” themed “Empowering Voice: Mastering the Art of Campus Journalism and Press Excellence,” which commenced earlier today, 25th January 2025, at the Press Council hall, North Campus of the institution.

The training session was tagged “What is Press Council?” which was organized mainly for intending members to know more about the council and why they should take it more seriously.
In the commencement of the training, the Press Council Chairman, Comr. Oladejo Olakunmi Abdulsamad, gave a welcoming address and introduced the theme of the trainings.

The trainer, Comr. Ajayi Toyyib Olabamiji, who also doubles as the Immediate Past Chairman, addressed the topic “Reason to be an Active Member: Amplify Your Impact in the Council,” where he deliberately gave full details on what the Press Council is all about as a media organization at large. He stated reasons why it is important to be an active member.

“To get all the values attached to the press council, you need to be passionate about the reason you joined.”
In his training, he said the press is a vital part of society, which is the Fourth Estate that works with their pen, and you can be a great advocate of change in the campus community.

The training concluded with a question-and-answer session, which was answered thoroughly, while the current chairman asked everyone to share what they had learned.
