The Polytechnic, Ibadan has been pronounced the second best Polytechnic in Nigeria, and awarded a Silverware, for the provision of access to higher education to persons with special needs.
This was announced in a presentation by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede in Abuja yesterday, 25th of September, 2023.
In a Press Release by the institution, it was included that the JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede asserted that persons with special needs are a vital part of the society and efforts must be made to take care of their academic needs.
However, Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna, bagged the gold award, while Kano State Polytechnic and Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu shared the third position.
Hence, the JAMB Registrar, Professor Oloyede commended the tertiary institutions in the country for paying attention to the needs of disabled persons in their various institutions through the provision of enabling facilities for their academic needs.
Meanwhile, Prof. Kazeem A. Adebiyi, Rector of The Polytechnic Ibadan, and other heads of tertiary institutions in Nigeria have been invited to a two day National Conference, with the objective of ensuring inclusive access to quality higher education in Nigeria, starting from September 26th, 2023.
