In a momentous event today, September 26th, 2023, members of Press Council, The Polytechnic Ibadan, led by the Chairman, Com. Ajayi Toyyib Olabamiji, paid a courtesy visit to the office of Vintage FM’s General Manager, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa. This visit marked a significant step in fostering collaboration and goodwill between the Press Council and the esteemed radio station.
During the visit, the outgoing Chairman of the Press Council, Com. Adetunji Joshua, accompanied the newly appointed executives to Vintage FM, underlining the continuity and unity of purpose within the organization.
The warmth of Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa’s reception was an humbling sight to behold for the visiting Press Council members, as she graciously welcomed them and even took time to give them a guided tour of the radio station, allowing them to gain valuable insights into its operations.
The highlight of the day came when Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa shared her inspiring journey in the field of journalism with the Press Council members. She urged them to remain committed to their passion for journalism and to pursue excellence tirelessly. In her words, “Always focus on your focus”.
In a surprising and heartwarming turn of events, the Press Council Chairman expressed their intention to appoint Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa as Matron of the organization. To their delight, she accepted this prestigious role with grace and enthusiasm.
Speaking about her new role, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa expressed her joy and gratitude being considered worthy of becoming the Matron of Press Council. She pledged her full support to the organization and promised to assist in any capacity necessary. Furthermore, she vowed to create opportunities for young campus journalists to thrive in the challenging, yet rewarding world of journalism.
