Dr. Taiwo Lasisi, the new Acting Rector of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, was warmly welcomed by the staff and students upon his arrival at the institution on Monday, March 25, 2024.
This was announced in a press statement, released on the 25th of March, 2024, through the office of the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Alh. Soladoye Adewole.

Accompanied by well-wishers, Dr. Lasisi addressed the staff and students, expressing his commitment to elevate the institution during his tenure.
He thanked the State Governor, Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for the opportunity to serve, and pledged to align with the state government’s development agenda by enhancing academic and infrastructure programmes at the institution. With a significant portion of his academic career spent at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, Dr. Lasisi is well-positioned to lead the institution to greater heights.

In his years as a staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, he attained the highest academic position as Chief Lecturer. He also served as Dean of Students Affairs, and later, as Director of the Academic Planning and Control Unit, before transferring to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, thereby calling his appointment as Acting Rector a homecoming.

The Deputy Rector, Mrs. Olaide Salawu, alongside the Deans of Faculties, other senior officers, staff, and students, welcomed the new Acting Rector. They expressed their full cooperation and support, as reiterated by Mrs. Salawu, the Deputy Rector, and Dr. Bolanle Oseni, the Chairman of the Committee of Deans and Staff, who spoke at the brief reception.

The appointment of the Acting Rector was announced on Saturday, 23rd March 2024, through a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Sulaiman Olanrewaju.

Dr. Taiwo Lasisi succeeded Professor Kazeem Adebiyi as the Acting Rector of the institution.
