The National Association of Polytechnic Engineering Students, (NAPES) Sport director, Com. Oyeniyi Tobi was stabbed in the head and another student brutally beaten after the FENG Queens lost to FBCS Queens on 3rd April, 2019 at the Sport Pavilion, North Campus of The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The victim, NAPES sport director, Com. Oyeniyi, narrated that the awful scenario began with the Culprits intimidating the FENG QUEENS TEAM after the match, and as the sport director and head coach of the faculty team, he had to come to the rescue of his players.
“During the match, despite that we were losing with two goals to nil, we were still joking around and maintaining a mutual rapport with the opposite team from FBCS. But then, the culprits started with the throwing of sachet water into our midst to erupt violence, but we still maintained our calmness. But after the match, they came harassing the females and that was where I interceded along with some students from engineering. The other student, whose whereabout is still unknown, was beaten brutally, and I was stabbed in the head in the process. One senator came to my rescue and that was when I was rushed to the Medical Centre for treatment.” Oyeniyi narrated.
He further stated, that he didn’t see the need why FBCS would attack them because they won them already, and that the perpetrator of the heinous act were not the opposite team from the FBCS following the chants they made after perpetrating it.

Nobody will believe him for saying FBCS attacked them after they won them already. We all know what can happen when your team is losing. This ideal of “Southerner Awu” must stop making them feel superior to Northeners and middle belt students.
The old and weak security men can not stop any form of violence.

It is so much obvious that you have something in mind with the southerners, you claiming now that what the guy said is wrong and you are not there when it happen, does it mean there is now press official available when the football was going on, all the best this most stop. They all are student of the great polytechnic Ibadan so please don’t discriminate coz we the southerners never discriminate.
Whether southerner or northerner, there shouldn’t be cause for discrimination. Everyone is a student of this great citadel of technological innovation

I pray May God heal you quickly. But I think our major problem in Ibadan ryt now is the security, throughout the violence there is no security that showcase his/her face throughout the scenerol is unfair, adding been there is like two to four security on the field yesterda,it will never be up to that but since no one is ready to caution Orr stop them everything become so rampant. So pls thee security should try to exercise their primary assignment pls moreover our student also pls and pls I want us to belief that violence is not a solution to all problem, we are all matured pls all we need is maturity and understanding. This is not all about security or better still the securities’s fault. I believe these shows lack of discipline and protocol in the institution. If you’re going to organize an event, programme, or whatever…there as to be a better a platform of organizing, stabilizing and monitoring to avoid reoccurrence of such situations.
