STORY ONEIt was a welcome innovation which marveled all students when we were told that we would start sitting for CBT Test but it was quite a shock when it was observed by students especially from the department of Environmental that it saddens us to know that the management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has phobia for setting things properly especially when it’s related to preparedness.
The above is factual because, the school resumed on 8th of May, and no sought of announcement was made that the CBT will take place in the faculty of Environmental studies which the students must attempt.
Sequel to this late announcement, yesterday 21st of May, we were informed that we are to attempt the CBT test today 22nd May which most students were not aware of. Because of this, students had to spread the impromptu information between those at their reach, especially to the concerned HND1 and ND1 within the hours of 9 and 12 in the morning and 2pm and 5pm respectively.
In a bid to meet up with the time slated for the test, we converged on the ICT centre before 9am thinking we were to start at exactly 9, but we waited in the center for more than 4 hours. After which we were informed to start entering by 1: 20 pm. To our surprise, some couldn’t access their portal due to some errors in logging in which a solution was not found till we finished the first paper.
Also, some DPP students couldn’t log in and they were told to go to DPP office to verify, but it is disheartening to gather afterwards that most of them did but they couldn’t log in still. After the first paper, we were told the second paper was yet to be uploaded and we were chased to leave for our various domains.
At exactly 4pm, the class representative sent a message to the group chat that he was informed that the second test has been uploaded, and that we should rush back for it.
Sequel to this, not all students are in the group chat and obviously, not all will be contacted. However as a result of this, several controversies and complaints were generated reinstating that the CBT test lacks proper planning and coordination which results in some students settling for a make-up test which is a slap on the face of the standard of the school.
However, we plead on behalf of our colleagues to the management to ease us a bit of our stress because it has been observed the since the inception of the resumption of the mid semester break that students have been frustrated.
