The Islam religion is one of the popular religion in the world which is in accordance with the Holy Quran. Therefore, the annual hajj tour performed in the Holy city of mecca in Saudi Arabia as laid down by the Holy Quran is where believers converge in mass for a sole reason which is to fulfil the last pillar of the religion.
The hajj which is regarded to as holy pilgrimage, according to the Islamic Clerics, is one of the necessary and veritable instruments in the pillar of Islam.
It has been observed that it is now a reoccurring symbols amongst some of the Alhajis and Alhajas who just came from Mecca to have a particular tooth called “Mecca Tooth” in silver colour.
According to research gathered, Hajj tooth is a showoff, it’s not a prerequisite for hajj as stipulated by Islam principles.
In a bid to inquire about the Hajj Tooth, the Director of Studies, MSSN, The Polytechnic, Ibadan in a chat with PRESS COUNCIL envisaged on the significance, meanings and effect of hajj tooth.
According to Alfa Saheed, Hajj tooth is an act of beautification which has been abused and termed to be a necessary tool in hajj performance. To him, it’s not an act of worship and also not mandatory to the specifications of Holy Quran which whosoever that is antithesis to the Holy Quran is tantamount to be disobedient.
He said further, “one of the bearers of hajj tooth gained obedience and integrity from members of the society such that they are known without addressing themselves at the expense of their innate bad attitudes. Some Alhajis and Alhajas purchase theirs from somewhere else at the clamour for unnecessary fame.”
However, this piece is written to give a clarion call to all stakeholders, religious heads, Muslim and the society at large to promote normalcy of hajj tooth.
