The Polytechnic, Ibadan matriculated her newly admitted students of 2019/2020 for both National Diploma and Higher National diploma on the 23rd October, 2020. The matriculation which was conducted online through the Zoom app started at exactly 11:10 and was declared opened by the Rector of the Institution, Prof Kazeem Adebiyi.
The Rector shared that only 3, 070 students who applied were admitted out of 13,974 students for OND program. And out of 5,517 that applied for HND program, only 2,920 were opportuned to be in The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
Thereafter, he congratulated all the newly admitted students. He also explained that due to the current situation of the country relating to the COVID-19 that has forced the management into resorting to the virtual ceremony. “According to COVID-19 protocols, large gathering cannot be organized in schools as stated by the NCDC”, he said.
He further explained that, incomplete registration is what give most students problem during the process of graduation and that’s because they don’t supply the school with accurate information about themselves. He urge all students to be careful while registering and they should always give accurate information whenever they are making any registeration. “You all should ask yourselves why you are here which is for you to read, attend lectures, attempt all form of assignments and doing that will surely result to good grades.” he said.
The Rector further explained about appropriate dressing and morals is one of the things that makes up a good students. “The school have rules regarding dressing and any student should not in any way violate the dress code law as it’s attract suspension for one semester or more or expulsion as the case may be. Your morality mustn’t be questioned because graduation without morals is null and void,” he emphasized.
The Rector however urged the students to take the opportunity of joining different relevant associations in school because all work no play makes Jack a dull boy. He also advised all the students to keep away from associations that can damage their names, their families’ as well as their education career because “cultism not only destroy future, it kills too.” he hammered.
The program was brought to an end by 12:00pm as the students recited the national anthem and the rector declared the event closed.
