The Students’ Union of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, has announced the enforcement of a “No ID Card, No Entry” policy on campus, effective February 2, 2026.
This directive was contained in a memorandum jointly signed by the Students’ Union President, Comrade Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo, and the General Secretary, Comrade Tajudeen Muh’d Shittu.
According to the memorandum, only students with valid school identification cards will be granted access to the campus from the stated date.
The Union stressed that the school ID card remains a compulsory means of identification and a prerequisite for participation in academic and administrative activities within the institution.
Emphasizing the importance of strict compliance, the memorandum warned that no excuses would be entertained. Students who are yet to collect their ID cards were advised to proceed to the Assembly Hall for immediate collection to avoid embarrassment or restriction of movement.
“All students who are yet to collect their ID cards are strongly advised to proceed to the Assembly Hall for collection to avoid embarrassment or restriction of movement,” the memorandum stated.
The policy, announced through the Public Relations Officer of the Students’ Union, Comrade Ipadeola Usman Gbolagade, is aimed at enhancing campus security and promoting discipline among students.
The Union further urged students to cooperate fully with school authorities to ensure a smooth implementation of the policy.
The announcement has been applauded as a positive step towards improved security, while others expressed concerns over the short notice given before enforcement.
