Following the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde directives on the reopening of schools in Ibadan, the state capital, “all schools are to resume normal academic activities from tomorrow, Monday, 26th October, 2020”.
The Honourable Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, who made this known in a statement issued, he said that the directive followed a review of the situation in Ibadan metropolis as earlier promised by the Governor.

The statement read: “His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, directed the closure of schools in Ibadan metropolis on Tuesday, 20th of October, 2020, following the #EndSARS protests that rocked the state.

“His Excellency had, in a message to the people of Oyo State, stated that the situation will be reviewed on Friday, 23rd October, 2020.

“Following a review of the situation as earlier promised, the state government is happy to observe that normalcy has returned to the state in the aftermath of the protests.”

In that end, the management of The Polytechic, Ibadan has set procedures for resumption of all students in ND II, only HND II, ND 1 from FBCS and FES respectively.

According to an internal memorandum released 19th October, 2020 from Directorate of Students’ Affairs, the procedure for Resumption was itemised in a meeting held on 13th Tuesday, 2020 which is in accordance to the resolution made with Students’ Representative after peaceful protest.

The memo futher read, “(i) All ND II students should resume to receive at least Six (6) weeks lectures and revision before the commencement of their Examination.

(ii) ND 1 and HND II students from two (2) faculties (i.e. FBCS and FES) are to resume in preparation for the examination that will commence on 2nd November, 2020″.

All students are therefore advised to strictly adhere to the procedure of the management.
