In response to mounting concerns over the recent school fee increment, the Students’ Union of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has reassured students of its commitment to protecting their welfare and ensuring that their voices are heard.
In an official statement released on Saturday, November 30, 2025, the Union confirmed that a crucial meeting was held with the principal officers of the institution, along with representatives of the Students’ Union, the Students’ Representative Council, Faculty Presidents, and other student leaders.
During the meeting, Students’ Union President, Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo, addressed the gathering and urged all student leaders to remain calm and focused. He emphasized that the Union would continue to work hand-in-hand with stakeholders to ensure that all students are duly represented and that concerns over the increment are communicated clearly to the school management.
“We understand the current concerns surrounding the increment in school fees, and we want to assure every student that your voices are heard loud and clear,” the statement read. “Our top priority has always been the welfare of students.”
The Union further reiterated that while it does not endorse or encourage any form of protest, it is actively engaging the management for a peaceful, just, and favourable resolution.
Students are encouraged to remain united, avoid panic, and maintain communication with their representatives. The Union assured that it remains open to feedback and is working diligently for the best interest of the student body.
The statement was endorsed by the Students’ Union Executive, the Students’ Representative Council, the Faculty Presidents Forum, and other students leaders.
