“Don’t urinate there and don’t come over here again to ease yourself”. That was Mr Olatoyese Jayeoba of General Studies Department; The Polytechnic, Ibadan shouting over to student of Public Administration while she was coming through his window where the students reserved as their “TOILET”.
While responding, Dr Akinola who was the lecturer in the class as of the time of the incident, February 13th, 2020 at around 1:47pm “Jaye the place will be blocked very soon so that students won’t go behind your office and mess it up”. He further envisaged that the sole aim of NAPADS is to provide certain facilities for the well being and welfare of the student. Don’t you pay Dues? And that’s why you’ve representative to help in such instances.”
However, prior the emergence of Adeyemo Emmanuel Ayodeji the 2019/2020 President of National Association of Public Administration Students ‘The Polytechnic, Ibadan popular and politically known as optimism, on his manifesto day which came up on 12th November, 2019 which shows what he intends to accomplish if he emerge as a president of the association ,the point of his manifesto is based on welfare of the student where he mentioned some problems facing the department which he intends to solve , some of his contents in the manifesto are conduction of tutorials for all levels, Building of synergy between the department and the student, and renovation of toilet for the student to answer the call of nature.
Unfortunately, should we say Comrade Adeyemo Emmanuel made an unfulfilled promises only to cajole the interest of the student to vote for him?. Thus, this is the true picture of the nation’s political strategy thus why will an undergraduate leader tell false promises to attain a position only to bring up a white elephant projects for the students. The question is; That kind of a leader neglect the right of the student as well as the association, as a whole department lacks of toilet which has make the student to make use of some portion beside the “HND ” class in replace of toilet and this is dangerous to the health of the student where they inhale bad odour into their body system. But the president of the association has silent his actions over the promises he made to the whole student of public administration.
While responding to comments on certain matters at the Congress where he presented his budget and plans of action for the Student Representative Council, Executives and Press of the Department presided over by Honourable David HND2 FT.” although some of the physical project the association promises is NAPADS Garden (thus, renovation of toilet is not there ) which will be situated at the heart of the department’s block. The project was questioned as the money that’s meant to erect this project should be diverted to toilet renovation instead. Hence, the President suggested that the renovation of NAPADS toilet built by the 2013/2014 set, can’t be renovated because no money, no water and no necessary plans towards it but the question that should keep ruminating in our hearts is, What is the current and former economic status as of the execution of that project such that no money to renovate partially to help students for nature. It’s inevitable to be pressed but hands must be in deck both for students (taking good care of it) , renovation and proper cleanliness of the toilet facility.
We are calling upon the concerned authority to intervene in the issue of the toilet because the toilet is in bad condition.
