On the 15th September, 2024, The Polytechnic, Ibadan Students’ Union (SUG) has issued an important notice to alert students about a fraudulent request for personal information circulating in the name of the union. This fake request, allegedly linked to the distribution of SUG souvenirs, asks students to provide their personal data.

In an official memo released, the SUG has made it clear that it has not issued any such request for personal information. The union advises students to refrain from sharing any sensitive details with individuals claiming to represent the SUG. The union further emphasizes that it will not request students to fill out forms or send personal data for souvenirs or any other purposes.

The SUG stated that the email address connected to the fraudulent Google Form used for the data collection scam has been traced. The union is actively taking steps to address the issue and protect students from potential harm.

Additionally, the union clarified that all students with valid receipts are entitled to souvenirs. Further announcements regarding the distribution of these souvenirs will be made in due course.

“Your privacy and security are important to us,” the statement concluded, urging students to remain vigilant and cooperate with the union to prevent data breaches.
