Following the endorsement of operating license few months ago, the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has granted The Polytechnic, Ibadan, a radio trademark and frequency.
The management made it known to our correspondent that the Commission has confirmed Reiz 101.9FM as operating frequency for The Polytechnic, Ibadan radio, today.
In his address, the Rector of the institution, Prof. Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, expressed the readiness of the management to uplift the institution through constructive broadcast journalism.
Adebiyi thanked the Governor of Oyo State, Engr Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde, for his giant strides in making the radio station come into reality in this austere time.
The Rector added that the radio station will be used to uplift various programmes of the institution and propagate the laudable policies of the state government.
Reacting to the success of the radio station, the Secretary of the institution’s Radio Facilitation Committee, Dr Olusoji Olatunji, said that both the operating license and the subsequent release of the operating frequency were the swift response of Governor, Makinde to financial modalities to facilitate the birth of Poly Ibadan Radio Station, REIZ FM 101.9.
Olatunji extended the committee’s gratitude to the state government for their supports towards the achievement of this feat.
He said, “The Polytechnic Ibadan radio station, also known as REIZ FM 101.9, will be used for the propagation of various academic programs in the unstitution and anchor by the students at the Department of Mass Communication to promote laudable programs embarked upon by the state government in general.”
Recall that the management had been proposing for an institutional radio since 2015, which same often declined at the arrival due to some circumstances that were not made available to the media.
The radio station will help balance the theoretical aspect of all media related courses on campus.
