Management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has approved a one-week extension for students yet to complete payment of tuition fees, allowing them to participate in the 2025/2026 First Semester examinations. This decision follows appeals from the Students’ Union, who advocated on behalf of affected students to ensure uninterrupted access to their examinations while providing time to regularize outstanding payments.
The announcement comes after the earlier “No School Fees, No Examination” policy generated concern among students, many of whom were unable to present proof of payment despite the recent disbursement of funds through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
Details contained in an official memorandum dated February 15, 2026, revealed that the decision followed a series of engagements and appeals made by the Students’ Union to the institution’s Management on behalf of students who were yet to complete their tuition payments.
Approval granted by Management provides an extension of tuition fee payment, allowing affected students to participate in examinations within the first week of the examination period. Heads of Departments have been directed to comply with the new arrangement and ensure that all eligible students are granted access to sit for their papers during the approved grace period.
Guidance in the memorandum also encouraged Heads of Departments to make students’ previous examination results available to them to enable confirmation of academic standing and facilitate necessary academic decisions where required.
Appreciation was expressed by the Students’ Union to Management for its understanding, while students were urged to make full use of the opportunity by regularizing their school fees within the approved timeframe.
The Memoradum further directed students whose identity cards are ready for collection to proceed to the Assembly Hall to obtain them ahead of the examination exercise. Officials who endorsed the notice include Public Relations Officer Ipadeola Usman Gbolagade, President Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo, and General Secretary Tajudeen Muh’d Shittu.
