On Sunday March 8, 2020 Adeyinka Ademola Abdulrasheed a former Production Manager of Press Council (a conglomerate of all writing units on campus ) who is also serving as an intern after his just concluded National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering has been shortlisted since inception of the institution’s editorial board for the most prestigious awards for campus journalist in Nigeria.
According to reports, a total number of 266 entries were received from over 50 institutions. The 30 shortlisted finalists according to the Youth Digest (official sponsors of the Campus Journalist Awards) were selected after proper scrutiny, observation for the 15 categories award.
Adeyinka Ademola, as popularly known to have started his journalistic career in 2018 as a an executive member in Press Council, while contacted by our correspondent on the feat so far, “my area of journalism is politics because when we say politics; it is dividend of democracy we are clamoring for which is meant to give the common citizen a good life hence, with journalism you hold authorities and government accountable for them to be able to deliver that dividend of democracy”. He said.
He further reiterated to look forward where youths particularly students will be resourceful and responsible irrespective of their discipline or course hence he advised students and every campus journalists to have positive impact on the larger populace and take up responsibilities.
Nevertheless, reports made us know that the eventual winner of the categories of Campus Journalism Awards will be announced after a final screening by a panel of judges at Abuja on the 28th, March 2020. Therefore, Press Council is admonishing all members to fully aspire so as to acquire their perspired desire.
