The long awaited 2023/2024 SUG Elections of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, took place today, 20th of January, 2024, which saw Oyekan Tobiloba Emmanuel emerge as President-elect of the Students Union Government, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The election which was an e-voting process, started at exactly 12:11PM, and lasted four hours.
Present in The Assembly Hall, North Campus of the institution, being the elections control room, were; Members of the SUG electoral committee, political agents of each SUG candidate, members of the Press Council, and officers from various security agencies, to witness and coordinate the voting process.
The voting process, as conducted in the elections control room, was transparent, peaceful, free and fair. The four hours long voting exercise had 5,402 total number of accredited voters, out of which 2,837 participated.
The election between the candidates for the office of SUG President had Banire Muizudeen Abolaji gathering 402 total number of votes, Olayinka Olatunji Dolapo with 650 votes and Oyekan Tobiloba Emmanuel with 1,645 votes, presenting him as the winner of the much competitive election.
Winners of the other contested Students Union Executives positions in the 2023/2024 SUG elections are:

Kudaisi Mutiu Adekunle – Social Director
Kadelu Oluwole Benedict – Public Relations Officer 1
Adekunle Olamide Gbenga – Public Relations Officer 2
Sanusi Olawale Samuel – Welfare Director 1
Oladipupo Habeeb Akorede – Welfare Director 2
Adegbesan Abass Ayobami – Sport Director
The other positions were contested unopposed, and the following candidates emerged their respective positions;
Ogunniran Ifeoluwa Samson – Vice President
Akinwale Fawaz Oladimeji – General Secretary
Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo – Assistant General Secretary
Ayodele Olamide Rebecca – Financial Secretary
The populace of The Polytechnic, Ibadan should thereby expect an official declaration of the election results by the school management.
