The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced an extension of its application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Earlier today, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, disclosed that the deadline has been extended from 31 January 2026 to 27 February 2026.
The official press release stated that the extension is aimed at providing prospective applicants with additional time to complete and submit their applications, thereby ensuring that no eligible student is excluded due to timing constraints.
Speaking on the decision, Mr. Sawyerr stated that the extension reflects NELFUND’s commitment to inclusivity and access to education. He explained that the Fund understands some applicants may require extra time to finalize their submissions, and the decision ensures that all eligible Nigerian students have a fair opportunity to benefit from the scheme.
