LIVES IN DANGER – ACCOUNTANCY STUDENTS CRY OUT FOR HELP

The HND 1 students of Accountancy Department who receive lectures at Block FB5 opposite North Library, North campus cry out to the Management of the Institution on the current state of their lecture room which is alarming as the ceiling of the lecture room is in a bad state.

The lecture room which accommodates over 250 students on yearly basis was last renovated by The Polytechnic, Ibadan Old Accountancy Students Association 1977/1981 set on the 1st of March, 2014.

In the reports gathered by our Correspondent, some parts of the ceiling of the classroom fell off at the early days of last semester few minutes after the completion of lectures on a Wednesday Afternoon.

“This lecture room is currently in a tremendous state. In order to avoid a brutal collapse which might eventually victimize innocent souls, the students of Accountancy Department HND 1 cry out for a rapid attention and solution to this pressing need.” Temitayo, one of the Students of the class told PRESS COUNCIL.

According to our Press Council Correspondent, students regarded Block FB5, one of the classrooms at that location, to be a death trap for students who use the classroom for lectures and social activities for the ceiling could fall at any time.

Damilola, one of the students of the class also told PRESS COUNCIL, “we have tendered our complaints to the executives of the department as regards the state of our insecurity, but all our efforts in getting this done was to no avail as they turned a deaf hear to our plea. All they said was we will see to that in which at the moment of telling the Press, nothing has been done about it.”

He further told PRESS COUNCIL they had no choice but to resort to the Press, since their voices can only be heard through the media. He however furthered with a bitter complaint of fear of sudden collapse of the ceiling of Block FB5.

Also, according to some of the students, the state of the classroom give room for reptiles and all sort of unfriendly animals running around on the ceiling and sometimes will fall down into the lecture room.

The students of Accountancy Department HND 1 therefore seeks the Management’s indulgence to come to their aid in terms of quick renovation of the hall.
