Press Council

The Staff Unions of The Polytechnic, ibadan (NASU, SSANIP and ACADEMICS) has applauded the intervention of the Oyo State Government, the Institution’s Governing Council, Management and Staff for acede to some of their demands.
In a conversation with Press Council’s correspondent, the Institution’s NASU Chairman; Comrade Akande Ibrahim made this known through a Press Release dated 3rd May, 2021.

“Arising from an emergency meeting of the Union Leaders in The Polytechnic, Ibadan held on Monday 3rd May, 2021 and having reviewed our activities in the last three (3) months, we consider it necessary to write on behalf of the entire staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to appreciate Oyo State Government , The Hon Commissioner for Education, Special Adviser on Labour Matters, The Governing Council, The Rector, and the entire members of the Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan and more importantly ,The Governor of our noble State, His Excellency, Engr Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde for acceding to some of our Demands.

On behalf of the entire Staff, we say we are grateful for the degree of liberty given to our Governing Council to resolve some of our lingering issues internally.
In an interview with Press Council correspondent on 4th May 2021, the NASU chairman of the Institution; Comrade Ibrahim Akande made it known that the Oyo State Government, the Governing Council, Management has indeed helped in the acceding to some of their demands.

The issues ranging from Plantinum Consultant were been handled for the smooth running of the organization, matters arising to the welfare of the staffs were also considered while incentives were promised to be paid. “On this note, we render our sincere appreciation to the Oyo State Government, Governing Council and Management with other relevant stakeholders for being magnanimous to heed to some of their demands. We promise to continually embrace dialogue with necessary quarters to solve issues”. he said.

Meanwhile the statement also read, “We use this avenue to inform the good people of Oyo State that The Polytechnic, Ibadan is not on strike as being insinuated by some people in some quarters previously. In view of this, we implore other institutions in Oyo State to take a cue from The Polytechnic, Ibadan by taking rational approach in solving issues”.
