The HND Screening Exercise which came up between Wednesday, 25th September to Friday, 27th September, 2019 had a number of candidates who sat for the exercise. While a number of candidates who sat for exercise voiced out discomfort due to the unfavorable condition, a host of others commended the institution for easing the exercise with CBT.

Persistent system failure and over population characterised the Commencement of The polytechnic, Ibadan Higher National Diploma examination for 2019/ 2020 academic session on 25th, September at ICTcenter, The polytechnic,Ibadan, as gathered by the Press Council correspondents who monitored the screening exercise.

Correspondent of the Press Counil further reported that the examination which was supposed to be done within an hour, took some candidates for four hours at the centre before they could be allowed into the exam hall due to massive number of the candidates.

One of the candidates, Akintola told Press Council that his system worked fine but the atmosphere isn’t conductive for that kind of examination, adding that he was supposed to have done his examination at 9:00am before he was just allowed to enter around 11am.

Olayemi John , who sat for the examination for the second time, added that the exam is just 25 minutes and he didn’t see any reason for the school management to have a system in place so that there wouldn’t be any unbearable atmosphere.

Press Council’s further report found that many of these inconveniences that the prospective students voiced out came on the first day of the examination, as the terrain and atmosphere, being the first day of the examination, may seem somewhat tense and busy.

In a chat with another candidate, Rukayat Said ” this kind of population is expected but I believe the school management can do something different in making sure the candidates have good examination experience by increasing the personnel for the monitoring of the examination in and out of the hall”

One of the candidates, Abdullahi oladosu applauded The polytechnic, Ibadan for the efforts towards the CBTexamination and the organizers for the smooth conduct of the examination, adding that he was optimistic about getting good point.

However, Press Council report of the examination is a general comments obtained from prospective students. This report is urged to implore the management to document the candidates’ opinions and re-adjust for the subsequent HND screening test or Department’s mid-semester test.
