Students’ Union Executives holds inter faculty relay race on Friday 30, January 2025 at The Polytechnic, Ibadan.
The event saw the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies (FBCS) emerge as the overall standout at the Inter-Faculty Relay Race held at the main pitch of the school, after an impressive performance across multiple track events.
The competition was organized by the Students’ Union Executive, led by Comr. Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo, through the Office of the Sports Director, Comr. Obi Ebuka. The event attracted faculties from across the institution and was attended by the Director of Sports, Dr. A. O. Akeredolu, the Chief Coach, Mr. Abiodun Abegunde; the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Mr. John Makinde; as well as other officials of the Sports Unit.
Faculty Business and Communication Studies (FBCS) began their dominance early as Adediran Elizabeth clinched the female 100 metres title, while Lucky David secured victory in the male 100 metres race. The faculty further strengthened its lead in the relay events, with Adeniran Elizabeth winning the female 4×100 metres and Oluwagbuyi Immanuel emerging victorious in the male 4×100 metres relay.
Although the Faculty of Environmental Studies (FES) recorded notable wins in the 200 metres events through Sanni Grace in the female category and Ogunsola Samuel in the male category, Faculty of Business and Communication Studies maintained overall superiority through consistency and depth across races.
The final standings crowned Faculty of Business and Communication Studies(FBSC) as winners of both the male and female inter-faculty relay categories. In the male division, the Faculty of Financial Management Studies (FFMS) finished as second runners-up, while the Faculty of Engineering (FENG) placed third. The female category, Faculty of Engineering (FENG) take second position, with the Faculty of Science finishing third.
The event, however, was briefly marred by a disagreement following the female 4×100 metres relay, as the Sports Director of Faculty of Financial and Management studies contested the allocation of third position to Azeez Faith. Officials later maintained the announced results.
Medals and certificates were presented to the winning faculty and other participants by the Chief Coach, Mr. Abiodun Abegunde, alongside the Students’ Union, Sports Director, Comr. Obi Ebuka, bringing the event to a close.
