In the quest to assist the government fighting against the pandemic coronavirus, Polyibadan has produced ventilators and smart hand washers. The project was carried out by the department of mechatronics of the institution.
Both the ventilator and hand washing machine which housed a dryer were among the new innovations of the department which has just been given full accreditation to run Higher National Diploma Program.
The institution had earlier manufactured hand sanitizer and face mask which they donated to Oyo state government in support of the fight against COVID -19
Speaking on the innovation, the Head of Department, Mechatronic, Engineer Olaiya Kamorudeen said the projects were carried out by a research team of teachers and students of the department
Engr. Olaiya Kamourudeen, Mr olalere oladeji, few students, a consultant from UCH Dr. Adebayo Oluwaseun , and others made up the research team to carry out those projects. He further confirmed that all ventilators passed through adequate and proper procedures. They’ve been tested at the University College Hospital, UCH. In fact, Israel Ajayioba, a student who happens to be among the research team said that those ventilators were designed in a way that they can be adjusted depending on how the patients need it. Moreso, the Rector of the institution Prof Kazeem Adebiyi also revealed that the school radio is fully ready. The Polyfm which was meant to be launched on 29th May 2020 to honor the one year anniversary of the governor and also to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the institution was hindered by the COVID 19 pandemic.
“As soon as the pandemic is over, a couple of weeks after, we will be on air”. He stated
While Press council correspondence contacted the institution’s PRO Alhaji Soladoye, “All gadgets are available only to have the final approval from National Broadcasting Corporation (Abuja) immediately that’s done, the radio station will start it’s full operation”, he said
The management through the Rector urges the government to encourage and purchase local products so as to improve the country’s economy. He appreciates God and also praised the governor for supporting the school with funds and materials to carry out projects, he concluded.
