The Students’ Union Executives (SUE) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, have urged students of the institution to maintain decent, appropriate, and respectable dressing within and outside the campus.
The call was contained in a press release issued on Sunday, January 11, 2026, by the Union under the leadership of its President, Comrade Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo.
According to the statement, students’ appearance reflects not only their personal values but also the image and reputation of the institution they represent.
The Union emphasized that as ambassadors of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, students are expected to dress in a manner that promotes dignity, discipline, and respect for the academic environment.
It warned that all forms of indecent or provocative dressing, as well as attire considered inappropriate for academic activities, are strongly discouraged.
The statement further noted that any student found violating the institution’s dress code may be subjected to disciplinary measures in line with the Polytechnic’s code of conduct.
While acknowledging students’ right to individuality and personal expression, the SUE stressed that such freedom must be exercised responsibly and in accordance with institutional standards.
Students were therefore advised to appear neat, modest, and properly dressed during lectures, examinations, and all official campus activities.
The Union explained that the directive is aimed at fostering a disciplined, focused, and respectful learning environment conducive to academic excellence.
It also appealed to the entire student body to cooperate in upholding the values and maintaining the good image of the institution.
The press release was jointly signed by the Public Relations Officer, Comrade Ipadeola Usman Gbolagade; the General Secretary, Comrade Tajudeen Muh’d Shittu; and the President, Comrade Fagbemi Nurudeen Ojo.
